Krishna's Divine Blue - The symbol of divinity and serenity

Nov 13, 2024

Numerous stories have been told on Krishna's blue skin. One tale describes Him surviving a poison from a demon, which turned His skin blue instead of killing Him. However, there is a more widely known story behind this color depiction. Let's dive into it

The story

Long ago, in the celestial realms, the Gods gathered to discuss the arrival of Lord Vishnu's avatar on Earth. He was destined to be a guiding light, a symbol of divinity and wisdom. Which color should He be depicted in?

The Gods were contemplating..

  • Red for power? Nah.. Too aggressive
  • Yellow for knowledge? Nah.. Too bright
  • Green for Mother earth? Nah.. Too subtle

What would it be?

Finally Lord Vishnu said "Make me blue"

The Gods asked "why?"

Lord Vishnu said "Because the color blue symbolizes the infinite, divinity and mystery. Just like the vast sky and endless sea, the divine is without beginning or end".

Blue also symbolizes peace and serenity.

Irresistible aura

Blue is not just His physical skin tone. Krishna's blue appearance is actually His immense and captivating energy field. His aura radiated a profound blue, making Him irresistibly attractive to both allies and foes. People often confuse His skin color to His radiance. But the truth is that it's always been and will always be His powerful aura that attracted millions of devotees
